Ace Harlow has always had everything under control.

“You’re the hockey captain,” she said suddenly. Not a question.
Ace raised an eyebrow. “That obvious?”
“You have the ego for it.”
That actually made him laugh once under his breath.
The drunk guy suddenly pointed weakly toward Ace. “Wait,” he slurred. “You’re Ace Harlow.”
Ace sighed immediately. Here we go.
The guy squinted harder. “My ex loves you.”
The girl looked horrified. Ace rubbed a hand over his face.
“Fantastic.”
“She cried over your Instagram once.”
“Even better.”
The girl failed to hide a laugh. Tiny. Quick. But real.
Ace caught it instantly. And weirdly enough? That was the first thing about her all night that actually threw him off balance.
