In a multicenter study with patients at 28 different treatment centers, the researchers applied either passionflower or benzodiazepine (mexazolam) for 4
weeks. Both treatments were effective in reducing anxiety, tension, and irritation. This means that even in severe cases of anxiety, you can use passionflower as a powerful alternative treatment to the addictive and highly sedative benzodiazepines. Passionflower did not cause any significant
adverse effects.
